Manager Community & Engagement

About the role

Yass Valley Council is seeking an experienced and innovative Manager Community and Engagement to lead its Community & Engagement team. Reporting to the Director Corporate & Community, the role leads the development and implementation of community engagement and participation strategies so that community voices inform decisions, policies, strategies and service delivery. It is a fixed-term position until January 2028.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of Council's community engagement and participation strategies, making them purposeful, accessible and inclusive.
• Shape how Council engages and communicates with residents, businesses and visitors.
• Inspire and mentor a high-performing, community-focused team.
• Drive innovative engagement and communication strategies.
• Champion the visitor economy and help showcase the best of Yass Valley.
• Work alongside senior leaders, councillors, community groups and industry stakeholders.

Required profile

• Collaborative and authentic leader comfortable developing strategy, leading teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
• Background in local government, communications, community engagement, tourism, destination marketing, public affairs or a related field.
• Right to work in Australia and ability to pass pre-employment checks.
