Manager - Clients and Markets, Resources / Metal & Mining

About the role

Clayton Utz is looking for a Manager to support the business development function for its market-leading Resources / Metal & Mining practices in Perth. The role oversees the strategic development and management of the firm's key initiatives in this area, including client management, pursuit initiatives and related pitching, working closely with other business development managers in the Projects Stream, the wider practice and client and sector teams. It reports to the Senior Manager for the Projects Stream and works with partners across practice groups.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Resources / Metal & Mining practice in line with the firm's strategic objectives and support the implementation of the 2026-2029 strategy at practice area level
• Work with senior stakeholders to identify and pursue growth opportunities, and plan and execute client engagement opportunities
• Lead pitches and pursuits for new and existing clients for partners in the sector and support firmwide opportunities
• Manage and support client relationship development for practice, stream and firm clients
• Support the development and marketing of emerging products and services, and lead industry-focused initiatives
• Raise the market profile by sharing market and industry insights, creating content and engaging with media
• Mentor and lead team members, and help implement the firm's strategy across other business-critical projects
• Communicate the vision and purpose of the Clients and Markets function within the firm

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in business, law or finance, with legal or client development experience, ideally from a professional services environment
• Proven leadership and people/team management skills
• Ability to work autonomously and proactively, with resilience, self-motivation and flexibility
