Maintenance Planner – Open Cut Coal Mine

About the role

A leading ASX-listed mining contractor, engaged by Myndshift Group, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Planner for its open cut coal operation on a contract-to-permanent basis. You will plan maintenance across about 100 assets, from ultra-class haul trucks to large excavators, alongside a team of planners, schedulers and a short-term planner. The work is fast-moving and ad-hoc in a contractor environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain maintenance schedules for open cut mobile equipment, working with production teams to keep work running efficiently
• Turn asset management plans, inspections, defect reports and service findings into executable work orders
• Manage maintenance backlogs, spot scheduling constraints early and address risks before they affect production
• Own the work order lifecycle in SAP, from raising purchase orders to accurate data and timely close-out
• Track maintenance compliance and performance, delivering weekly schedules, reporting and reliability improvements with operational leaders, contractors and crews
• Provide weekly maintenance schedules and supporting documentation to operational stakeholders

Required profile

• Trade-qualified maintenance professional comfortable in a fast-paced mining environment
• Demonstrated experience as a Maintenance Planner in open cut mining, ideally in a mining contractor environment
• Experience planning heavy mobile equipment such as excavators, dozers, haul trucks and loaders
• Ability to analyse equipment reliability and maintenance performance trends
• Sound knowledge of risk management, permits, JSEAs and site safety systems
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, able to manage backlogs and competing priorities in an ad-hoc setting

• Working knowledge of SAP as a CMMS
