Maintenance Planner - Heavy Mobile Equipment

About the role

Whitehaven, a leading Australian coal mining company, is looking for a Maintenance Planner for its Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) fleets (excavators, haul trucks, dozers and ancillary fleets). Reporting to the Superintendent of Asset Planning & Strategy, the role develops long-term maintenance plans, shutdown forecasts, budgets and asset planning strategies, working with operations, maintenance, engineering, finance and external service providers to balance cost, risk, reliability and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage long-term maintenance plans and budgets for HME.
• Work with site, engineering and operations teams to align maintenance plans with shutdowns and production needs.
• Coordinate parts, labour and long-lead items with procurement and reliability teams.
• Review maintenance performance and identify ways to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain planning data, forecasts and work instructions in SAP and support budget reporting.

Required profile

• Trade qualifications or significant mining industry experience, enabling accurate estimation of resources, costs, materials and timeframes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to engage across all levels of the organisation and lead routine planning meetings.
• Highly organised and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities, tight deadlines and structured systems and processes.
• Detail-oriented, with experience interpreting technical documentation and liaising with contractors and vendors.

Required skills

• Strong SAP/S4H proficiency for maintenance planning, scheduling and administration.
