Maintenance Officer - Heidelberg

About the role

Benetas is seeking a Maintenance Officer for its residential aged care home The Views in Heidelberg, which houses 103 residents in apartment-style living with private rooms, ensuite bathrooms and shared kitchen, dining and lounge areas. The role covers routine building and grounds maintenance to keep the home safe and well kept for the residents.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and attractive living environment suited to the needs of the residents
• Identify and prioritise resident needs to create a more home-like environment
• Assist in selecting tradespeople to carry out specific tasks
• Run a planned preventative maintenance program and meet documentation requirements
• Attend to the maintenance of buildings, grounds and utilities in line with the schedule

Required profile

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a trade, domestic repair or general handyman work, plus a certificate or experience in a relevant trade
• Experience in Maintenance Officer positions; experience in aged care or disability is highly desirable
• Genuine interest in learning new skills, being outdoors and hands-on, and enjoyment of chatting with residents
• Commitment to continuous improvement that enhances resident lives
• Friendly and personable, able to interact with residents

Required skills

• Experience with an electronic maintenance management system
• Ability to identify standards relating to building maintenance

What we offer

• Permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours of 7:30am-3:30pm or 8am-4pm
• Approximately $71,300 per year plus superannuation
