Maintenance Mechanical Fitter – Richlands

About the role

This permanent position is based in Richlands, Queensland and offers the chance to join a high‑performing maintenance team supporting a fast‑moving consumer goods production line. You will work alongside experienced shift fitters, ensuring equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance during scheduled downtime, including occasional weekend work.
• Interpret technical drawings and parts, and support shift fitters as needed.
• Develop SOPs and engineering training modules.
• Manage work orders, spare‑parts inventory, and control systems.
• Coordinate specialised maintenance tasks with contractors and suppliers.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives across maintenance and production.

Required profile

• Mechanical trade qualification (essential).
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter in an FMCG or production environment.
• Willingness to learn, strong problem‑solving ability and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Basic machining – mills, lathe, drill press.
• Fault‑finding and corrective maintenance of machines and gearboxes.
• Isolation and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• MIG/TIG welding (bonus).
• Interpretation of technical drawings.
• Knowledge of GMP, SOPs and HACCP standards.
