Machine Shop Technician (Fitter Machinist & Skilled Operator)

About the role

Black Sky is hiring a Machine Shop Technician (Fitter Machinist & Skilled Operator) in South-East Queensland. You will program and operate CNC machines, run conventional machining, produce prototype and one-off parts and support reworks and part modifications.

Key responsibilities

• Program and operate 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines and carry out CMN (conventional machining network) machining
• Load and unload enclosures, tools and programs
• Monitor machine operations and perform quality control checks
• Carry out routine maintenance on machines and tools
• Produce and inspect prototype, R&D and one-off parts
• Do CAD modelling for machining tasks
• Support reworks, part modifications and hardware output
• Take part in team meetings and continuous improvement, and keep the workplace clean and tidy

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and eligibility for an NV1 Defence Security Clearance
• Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical or a trade certificate in Fitting and Machining (preferred)
• Current driver's licence

Required skills

• NV1 security clearance
• Preferred: CNC and steel manufacturing experience
• Preferred: familiarity with CAD modelling and machine maintenance
• Preferred: experience with ISO 9001, AS9100 and ASME Y14.5
