Locomotive Driver – Full‑time Permanent Role in Stuart, QLD

About the role

Aurizon is seeking qualified locomotive drivers to join its Bulk business in North Queensland. The role involves operating locomotives on mainline, shunting and marshalling duties across regional routes and yard/port shunts.

Key responsibilities

• Operate locomotives on mainline, shunting and marshalling tasks, ensuring on‑time running.
• Examine and certify trains for departure, conduct brake testing and adhere to safety standards.
• Travel on camp jobs between Townsville‑Mackay and Townsville‑Cairns, as well as work locally on yard and port shunts.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe” strategy.
• Availability for a 24/7 shift roster.
• Extensive freight or heavy‑haulage locomotive driving experience.
• Experience with Queensland Safe Working systems is an advantage.

Required skills

• Certificate IV in Rail Operations (or equivalent).
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
• Route qualifications for Mackay‑Cairns and/or Townsville‑Hughenden preferred.
