Qualified Locomotive Driver – Mount Isa

About the role

Aurizon is seeking a safety‑focused qualified locomotive driver to join its regional depot in Mount Isa. You will be responsible for preparing trains for departure and operating locomotives across mainline, shunting and customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Operate locomotives for mainline runs, shunting, marshalling and on‑site customer work.
• Maintain on‑time performance and conduct brake testing on all units.
• Deliver high‑quality customer service in line with Aurizon’s safety and operational standards.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Rail Operations (mandatory).
• Current unrestricted Class C driver’s licence (mandatory).
• Extensive freight or heavy‑haul locomotive driving experience.
• Availability for a 24/7 shift roster.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Required skills

• Operation of mainline and shunting locomotives.
• Brake testing and certification procedures.
