Loco Driver Assistant – Seasonal Role in Herbert Region

About the role

Join Wilmar Sugar & Renewables as a seasonal Loco Driver Assistant in the Herbert region of North Queensland. You will support the transport of harvested sugarcane from farms to processing mills, working on a rotating shift roster across the picturesque cane fields.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the loco driver with routine services and safety checks.
• Assemble and secure rakes of cane bins for transport.
• Inspect bins, tag defective ones, and ensure proper loading.
• Support mill operations during the crushing period to maintain smooth workflow.
• Follow all high‑risk work and railway safety procedures.

Required profile

• Willingness to obtain or hold a High‑Risk Work Licence, relevant TAFE competency, or HR Drivers’ Licence.
• Ability to work outdoors in a shift‑based environment.
• Physical fitness for handling cane bins and operating railway equipment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
