Local Area Coordinator

About the role

APM is recruiting a Local Area Coordinator for its Partners in Community NDIS role in the Pialba region of Fannie Bay, Northern Territory. The coordinator helps people with disability, their families and carers build and pursue their goals of living well, exercising choice and control, and engaging with the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist people with permanent and significant disability to apply for NDIS supports
• Work with participants to develop their goals
• Connect people with disabilities to support within the local community
• Help participants navigate and optimise their engagement with the NDIS
• Improve community knowledge of the NDIS and create new ways to connect participants to services
• Meet identified contractual KPIs

Required profile

• Demonstrated relevant experience and/or lived experience
• Experience in planning with people to achieve collaborative outcomes
• Knowledge of the local community and options for social and economic participation for people with disability
• Approachable, positive, empathetic and compassionate, able to coach, counsel and connect people
• Currently holds or able to hold a Working with Children and/or Vulnerable People check

Required skills

• Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365
