Library Services Talent Pool (Casual)

About the role

Gympie Regional Council is inviting expressions of interest to join its Library Services talent pool in a casual position. The pool supports the six branch libraries at Gympie, Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach, Kilkivan, Goomeri and Imbil, and is used when casual vacancies arise. Hours are allocated on an as-needs basis, Monday to Saturday, and the pool remains open until 31 January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service at the libraries
• Handle library duties such as issues, returns, shelving and collection maintenance
• Maintain strong knowledge of library services, including digital and online resources and programs
• Assist with the retail presentation of library spaces
• Promote and deliver programs such as story time, school holiday activities, lifelong learning, technology sessions and community workshops
• Take part in reviews of branch library processes and procedures

Required profile

• Current Queensland C class driver's licence or above
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain one
• Availability to work flexible hours, including Thursday nights and Saturday mornings
• Ability to work at other branch libraries as required

Required skills

• Excellent customer service and communication skills, dealing positively with difficult customers
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software and ability to instruct customers on IT
• Teamwork, autonomy and ability to deliver programs to large groups
