Leisure & Lifestyle Worker (Casual)

About the role

The Burger Centre, part of Montefiore, is looking for a Leisure & Lifestyle Worker to join its close-knit team on site in Randwick. This is a casual position suited to someone seeking casual employment. You will support and run a range of stimulating small group activities, some of which may involve people living with dementia.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate small group activities such as discussion groups, gentle exercise, crafts, reminiscence programs, outings and music-related programs.
• Provide meaningful engagement for older adults and their families.

Required profile

• Qualification in Diversional Therapy, or Certificate IV in Leisure & Health, or a certificate in Art, Music or Drama, or Certificate III in Aged Care; a bachelor's degree in social science, social work, psychology or a related Allied Health field is also considered.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards.
• Knowledge of the common physical, psychological and social issues affecting older people and people living with dementia.
• Experience working with older people, program planning and facilitation, and with people living with dementia or other cognitive impairment.
• Understanding of the needs of older people from CALD backgrounds.
• Working knowledge of EEO and WHS, and experience working as part of a team.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Desirable: Class C (car) licence, photography skills, awareness of Jewish values, heritage and culture including those affected by the Holocaust, and bilingualism in a community language.

• Specialist skills pertaining to Leisure and Lifestyle.
• Strong computer knowledge and Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Zoom, multimedia devices, social media and client management systems.
