Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant - Mornington

About the role

Bayside Health is recruiting a Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant (Grade 2, IN32) for its Diversional Therapy team at The Mornington Centre, a 90-bed inpatient facility providing specialist geriatric evaluation and management services for older people. The role delivers engaging, person-centred activity programs for patients with cognitive impairment, including dementia, delirium and depression, working with allied health, nursing staff and volunteers.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate meaningful individual and group activities that promote wellbeing, maintain function, foster social connection and enhance the patient experience.
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to contribute to patient care plans within the multidisciplinary team.
• Determine patient interests and needs and monitor their progress.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle, or an equivalent qualification; applicants with a Certificate III in Leisure and Lifestyle (or equivalent) and demonstrated relevant experience may also be considered.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver programs to older adults with dementia, cognitive impairment and changed behaviour.
• Ability to work with individuals and groups using diversional and meaningful activities based on patient needs and preferences.
