Legal Counsel

About the role

As Legal Counsel you will be a key player in People & Legal, delivering timely, effective and strategic advice across corporate, real estate, fund, investment, construction and privacy matters. You will work across the full breadth of the legal function, drafting and negotiating documentation, leading transaction workstreams and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, solution‑focused legal advice to support project and organisational outcomes while managing legal risk.
• Draft, review and advise on commercial contracts and other legal documentation.
• Lead legal workstreams for acquisitions, disposals and development transactions from origination through to completion.
• Manage correspondence and relationships with external legal providers, authorities and government partners.
• Identify, communicate and escalate significant legal risks, collaborating on practical solutions.
• Contribute to the drafting and implementation of internal governance policies and operating procedures.

Required profile

• Law degree with a current Australian Practising Certificate.
• Minimum 5+ years post‑admission experience, including at least 1‑2 years as an in‑house Legal Counsel.
• Experience across commercial contracts, corporations law, funds management, real estate and development law, construction law, IP, employment law, litigation and privacy/data governance.
• Proven ability to provide strategic, pragmatic advice on complex legal and regulatory matters.
• Highly developed stakeholder management skills with strong commercial judgment.
• Confident, proactive, highly organised and able to own matters through to resolution.
