Legal Counsel – Family & Civil Law (Bundaberg)

About the role

ATSILS QLD Ltd is seeking a passionate Family/Civil Law Legal Practitioner to join its Bundaberg office. The role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities while working in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with clients daily, providing advice and advocacy across family and civil law matters.
• Manage own workflow without billable‑hour pressure, ensuring a healthy work‑life balance.
• Handle complex cases including child protection, domestic violence, anti‑discrimination, estates and consumer protection.
• Participate in flexible working hours and a family‑friendly atmosphere.

• Opportunities to specialise as an Independent Children’s Lawyer or Separate Representative.

Required profile

• Admitted Legal Practitioner in Queensland (or eligible for immediate admission) with a current practising certificate.
• Holder of a Queensland Government Blue Card prior to commencement.
• Minimum two years full‑time experience in family and civil law, including child protection and domestic violence work.
• Demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent services.
