Legal Counsel - Corporate

About the role

An exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join Australian Unity's Group Legal team. You will partner with senior stakeholders across Technology, Finance, Strategy, People & Culture, Marketing, Company Secretariat and the CEO Office to provide practical legal advice that supports strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on a broad range of commercial and corporate matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including technology, software, procurement and supplier contracts.
• Advise on privacy, data use, intellectual property, marketing and consumer law matters.
• Support regulatory initiatives and respond to legislative changes.
• Assist with strategic projects, transactions, due diligence and business initiatives.
• Promote adoption of legal technology and AI‑enabled tools, driving process improvements.

Required profile

• Australian qualified lawyer with experience in private practice, in‑house, or both.
• Proven ability to partner with business units and deliver commercially focused advice.
• Comfortable managing matters independently while knowing when to seek guidance on complex issues.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
