Legal Counsel – Corporate & Commercial (In-House)

About the role

A growing global financial services business is recruiting a Legal Counsel for its Brisbane office through Peppercorn Recruitment. The business advises Australian and international investment managers on the legal, regulatory and operational infrastructure needed to set up and run investment funds. The role suits a corporate or commercial lawyer moving in-house, with an established legal team and hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of corporate, commercial and investment management matters alongside experienced senior lawyers.
• Draft and negotiate corporate and commercial agreements.
• Assist with the establishment and ongoing operation of investment funds.
• Review and prepare fund documentation, including constitutions, investment management agreements and disclosure documents.
• Advise on financial services regulatory and compliance matters.
• Work with internal stakeholders and investment managers on legal and commercial issues.
• Support new business initiatives and transactions.

Required profile

• Approximately 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in corporate or commercial law.
• May be coming from a law firm for a first in-house role, or already in-house seeking career development.
• Experience in funds management or financial services is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong grounding in corporate or commercial law, good drafting skills and a practical approach to legal advice.
