Legal Counsel – Commercial & Disputes (Hybrid, Sydney)

About the role

This is a rare hybrid in‑house position that blends high‑quality commercial and transactional work with hands‑on dispute and litigation exposure. You will join a respected legal team within a market‑leading construction and infrastructure business, advising on contract strategy and managing disputes across the transaction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end contract negotiations with customers and suppliers.
• Develop and execute dispute strategies, including debt recovery, property damage, insurance, and litigation matters.
• Manage litigation by working directly with insurers and external counsel.
• Provide commercial‑focused legal advice to senior stakeholders on risk and outcomes.
• Support regulatory advisory and broader business decision‑making.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in commercial contracting and contentious matters.
• Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
• Experience working with insurers, external counsel, and senior business leaders.
• Strong analytical and communication skills in a fast‑paced environment.
