Legal Counsel (Australia & New Zealand)

About the role

Egis is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide commercially‑focused legal support for its Australia and New Zealand operations. Reporting to the Managing Legal Counsel – ANZ, you will work closely with business leaders, project teams and commercial stakeholders to manage legal risk throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate consultancy agreements, sub‑contracts, NDAs and supplier agreements in line with Egis’ risk profile.
• Provide timely, pragmatic advice on project delivery, procurement and operational matters.
• Support project teams with contract interpretation, risk assessment and dispute resolution.
• Assist with claims, litigation, insurer notifications and maintain legal templates, playbooks and standard documentation.
• Conduct legal reviews of bids, tenders and major project pursuits.
• Promote legal and commercial awareness across the business and collaborate with APAC and Group Legal teams.

Required profile

• Admitted legal practitioner in Australia or New Zealand with 3–5+ years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering consultancy or professional services environments.
• Strong knowledge of contract law, risk management and compliance principles.
• Practical, commercial mindset with the ability to work in ambiguous situations.
• Self‑starter attitude, capable of working autonomously in a fast‑paced, matrixed setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships across technical and non‑technical teams.
