Legal Counsel – APAC

About the role

Meltwater is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join its APAC legal team. The role provides practical, business‑focused legal support across the company, especially in SaaS contracting, privacy, data protection and emerging areas such as AI.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate SaaS agreements, master services agreements, order forms, statements of work, data processing agreements, NDAs and other commercial contracts.
• Advise on customer, vendor, partner and technology transactions, including privacy, data protection, confidentiality and information security matters.
• Support sales, procurement and product teams throughout the contracting process, handling deviations from standard terms and proposing solutions.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting SaaS, media monitoring, content licensing, privacy, AI and digital services.
• Coordinate with external counsel for specialist advice and contribute to legal and compliance projects across the APAC region.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law.
• 5+ years of post‑qualification legal experience, including in‑house work in technology, SaaS or digital‑services environments.
• Strong negotiation, drafting and communication skills with a pragmatic, business‑oriented approach.
• Ability to manage a high volume of legal matters, balance risk and commercial objectives, and work independently across regions.
