Associate Corporate Counsel – AWS Legal

About the role

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to join the AWS public sector legal team. Based in Sydney, you will support AWS’s public sector customers across Australia, New Zealand and the broader Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate and advise on a wide range of technology contracts, focusing on Australian and New Zealand public sector customers.
• Assist with bid proposals and tenders, support compliance training, and work proactively with regulators and policy makers.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal counsel and contract interpretation to business teams and help improve team processes.

Required profile

• Law degree (LLB, JD or equivalent) from a leading university and admission to practice in Australia or New Zealand.
• 2+ years post‑admission experience in a top law firm, in‑house, or government agency, preferably with emerging technology matters.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, sound judgment and ability to manage multiple projects.

Required skills

• Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
• Knowledge of public sector procurement requirements and Commonwealth security regulations.
• Ability to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance.
