Legal Assistant – Medical Negligence (Adelaide)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Legal Assistant to join the Medical Negligence team in Adelaide. In this permanent full‑time position you will support lawyers handling complex medical negligence claims, helping clients and their families navigate challenging periods while ensuring high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative and legal support to lawyers within the Medical Negligence team.
• Manage client files from opening to closure, maintaining accurate and timely records.
• Answer client enquiries and deliver updates in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Liaise with clients, medical practitioners, hospitals, experts, barristers, courts and other stakeholders.
• Prepare, draft and format legal and client correspondence and documentation.
• Coordinate appointments, medico‑legal assessments and manage diaries.
• Obtain and organise medical records, reports and other evidentiary material.
• Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email and mail.
• Assist with billing, file administration and matter‑related reporting requirements.
• Provide general administrative support to the broader team as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary or Paralegal, preferably in personal injury or medical negligence litigation.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities with capacity to handle competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, client‑focused approach with sensitivity to difficult circumstances.
• High attention to detail and solid administrative capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and contribute positively within a team.
• Confidence working in a fast‑paced environment and meeting deadlines.
