Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing

About the role

The University of the Sunshine Coast seeks a Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing to prepare future nurses with safe, compassionate, evidence‑informed mental health care. You will join a collaborative academic team, delivering engaging education and contributing to research and community partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality mental health nursing education through teaching, curriculum development, simulation‑based learning and student‑centred assessment.
• Contribute to research and scholarship, including publications, grant applications and supervision of higher degree research candidates.
• Build and maintain partnerships with mental health services, healthcare providers, professional networks and community organisations to enhance placements and research collaboration.

Required profile

• Completed or near‑completed doctoral qualification in a relevant field.
• Current AHPRA registration with demonstrated contemporary clinical experience in mental health nursing.
• Proven teaching effectiveness and ability to develop engaging higher‑education curricula.
• Evidence of research activity such as refereed publications or supervision of honours/higher‑degree candidates.
• Membership and strong connections with relevant mental health professional bodies or networks.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
