Leading Hand – Maintenance & Facilities

About the role

The Leading Hand will support the Facilities Manager at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, overseeing daily maintenance and grounds operations. This hands‑on position is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional ready to step into a supervisory role within a vibrant hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the grounds and maintenance team in daily operational tasks.
• Coordinate labour resources to ensure work aligns with operational priorities.
• Maintain landscaping, gardens, roads, pathways, and common areas across the resort.
• Support utilities infrastructure maintenance, including water, gas, electricity, and digital services.
• Assist with rubbish and recycling operations.
• Monitor facility conditions and proactively identify maintenance needs.
• Plan workloads, resources, and project priorities with the Facilities Manager.
• Liaise with contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of works.
• Collaborate with the Financial Administrator on contractor scheduling and performance.
• Provide regular updates on project progress, equipment, and material requirements.
• Act as delegate for the Facilities Manager during periods of leave.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, facilities or property maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a small team.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and coordinate resources effectively.
• Practical problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance issues.
• Experience working with contractors and external service providers.
