Leading Hand - Civil Utilities

About the role

McMahon Services is delivering major civil utilities works as part of a significant infrastructure project in Adelaide, with a long-term delivery program ahead. It is seeking an experienced Leading Hand for its Civil & Infrastructure team, reporting to the Site Supervisor. The role coordinates daily site activities, resources and labour while leading crews on water, sewer, stormwater and associated underground infrastructure works.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support crews delivering water, sewer, stormwater and associated infrastructure works
• Coordinate plant, labour and materials to achieve daily work activities
• Assist with trenching, excavation, pipe installation and associated civil construction works
• Monitor site progress and help maintain productivity, quality and safety standards
• Maintain daily site records and communicate progress to supervisors
• Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with project requirements
• Support incident reporting and continuous improvement initiatives on site

Required profile

• Experience on civil utilities, infrastructure or construction projects
• Experience delivering water, sewer, stormwater or underground services works
• Proven ability to lead crews and coordinate daily site activities
• Current driver's licence and First Aid certificate
• Ability to obtain required project and site clearances
• Previous Leading Hand or step-up leadership experience is a plus
• Experience on night shift utilities or live environment works is a plus

Required skills

• Understanding of trenching, excavation and underground service installation
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans
• Strong understanding of WHS requirements and working around live services
• Clear communication and proactive problem solving
