Lead Electrical Engineer

About the role

Ausenco, a global engineering and consulting company with offices in 21 countries, is recruiting a Lead Electrical Engineer for its Brisbane office. The role covers preliminary and detailed electrical and instrumentation design for power distribution systems, motor control centres and substations, and leads a small project team.

Key responsibilities

• Produce preliminary and detailed electrical and instrumentation design for HV, LV and ELV power distribution systems, and for HV and LV motor control centres and substations.
• Prepare design documentation such as equipment specifications and data sheets, operation and maintenance manuals, tender documents, cost estimates, hours-to-complete estimates and project schedules.
• Prepare, tender, evaluate and recommend equipment and service packages including HV switchgear, power transformers, MCCs, VVVF drives, UPS, power generators and flow, level, temperature and pressure sensing instruments.
• Supervise, assign tasks to and review the performance of the assigned work group.
• Provide technical advice and support for reports and studies, and mentor and train project team members.
• Act as effective liaison between clients and the project team.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering; RPEQ highly valued.
• Significant electrical and instrumentation design experience.
• Experience studying, FEED and detailed engineering.
• Prior experience leading electrical engineering project teams.
• Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.

Required skills

• ETAP and power systems experience.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
