Lead Data Architect - Federal Government

About the role

A federal government agency is seeking experienced Lead Data Architects to support a complex, enterprise-scale government service delivery initiative. You will lead the design of end-to-end data, integration and ICT architectures, turning business and technical requirements into secure, scalable solutions aligned to enterprise standards and strategic direction. The contract is 12 months with long-term extensions, covers multiple locations across ACT, QLD, VIC, SA and NSW, and carries a competitive hourly rate. A baseline security clearance is required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of end-to-end data, integration and ICT architectures
• Work with senior stakeholders and delivery teams to develop architecture options and artefacts
• Guide governance and design decisions and manage technical risk across large programs
• Produce architecture models, documentation and reusable artefacts such as patterns and standards
• Perform technology assessment and capability gap analysis, and recommend architecture options

Required profile

• Strong experience in enterprise, solution, data and integration architecture, including end-to-end design and governance
• Experience providing architecture assurance, taking part in design reviews and working within technical governance frameworks
• Strong technical risk management skills and ability to resolve complex issues in ambiguous environments
• Ability to communicate architectural recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders and governance forums
• Baseline security clearance

Required skills

• Hands-on capability across solution design, systems integration, migration and interoperability
• Experience using architecture tools and repositories and managing architecture artefacts
• Preferred: TOGAF, CISSP, Azure or AWS certification
