Lawyer or Senior Associate – Medical Indemnity

About the role

Lander & Rogers is expanding its medical indemnity insurance team and seeks a Lawyer or Senior Associate to provide legal advice on medical indemnity, health law litigation and related matters for general insurance clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage medical negligence litigation, including mediations and settlement conferences.
• Handle coronial inquiries and disciplinary proceedings against health entities and practitioners.
• Provide advice to insurers on professional and medical indemnity cover, including liability, quantum and strategy.
• Prepare briefs, court documents, settlement deeds and referrals to medical panels.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years post‑admission experience in medical or health law litigation (or casualty/personal injury transitioning to health law).
• Current practising certificate for the relevant Australian jurisdiction.
• Strong written and verbal communication, stakeholder management and mentoring abilities.
• Highly organised, critical reasoning and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Legal research and analysis.
• Drafting court documents, briefs and settlement agreements.
• Conducting presentations and meetings with varied audiences.
