About the role
We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Lawyer to join the Queensland Building and Construction Commission’s legal team. This role offers the chance to develop advocacy and litigation expertise while supporting regulatory work that underpins the state’s building and construction sector.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality advocacy in administrative review and disciplinary proceedings before the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Supreme Court, and appellate tribunals.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research, analyse legislation and policy, and develop strategic legal advice for internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Manage a litigation caseload, devise litigation strategies, and prepare complex legal documents such as statements of reasons, witness statements, briefs and submissions.
- Engage in negotiation and mediation to resolve disputes and support customer‑focused outcomes.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in litigation, including appearing as an advocate before courts and tribunals.
- Strong ability to apply contemporary legal principles to varied proceedings.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and teamwork skills.
- Customer‑focused, solution‑oriented approach with a commitment to high‑quality service.
