Lawyer / Associate, Projects and Development

About the role

Allens is seeking a talented Lawyer/Associate to join its Projects team in Melbourne. The role offers the chance to work on complex energy and infrastructure transactions within a collaborative, high‑performing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate key documents such as offtake and power purchase agreements, connection agreements, construction documents, operating and maintenance arrangements, development agreements and energy trades.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise on acquisitions and disposals of energy assets, including legal due diligence and transaction documentation.
• Conduct legal and regulatory analysis for energy and infrastructure projects, covering approvals, risk allocation and interface issues.
• Contribute to business development initiatives, including pitch documents, firm‑wide pursuits and industry events.

Required profile

• Experience advising on a broad range of project development transactions at a reputable international or Australian firm, preferably in the energy and infrastructure sector.
• Ability to work independently, manage smaller matters and elements of larger matters.
• Strong team ethic and willingness to mentor and develop others.
• Interest in building client relationships and participating in business development activities.
