Laboratory Supervisor

About the role

Join ALS Oil and Lubricants in Muswellbrook, NSW, as a Laboratory Supervisor. You will lead the Oils and Lubricants laboratory, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations while delivering high‑quality results for heavy mining equipment oil analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and decision‑making for the laboratory, maintaining safety, compliance and efficiency.
• Develop and coach a high‑performing team, managing training, performance reviews and competency.
• Plan capacity, allocate resources and balance workloads to meet productivity and turnaround‑time targets.
• Manage OOS, OOT, non‑conformance and deviation investigations, driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Oversee instrumentation performance, method compliance, change control and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor operational metrics such as safety performance, turnaround time, staff utilisation and OOS reduction.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Technical and Client Services to support business performance and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience in an analytical laboratory with supervisory responsibilities.
• Relevant degree or diploma in a scientific discipline.
• Proven ability to coach technical teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong operational decision‑making, resource planning and workload management skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving, investigative and data‑analysis capabilities.
• Track record of meeting KPIs for safety, quality, turnaround time and customer service.

• Microsoft Office (intermediate proficiency).
