About the role
SGS Australia is seeking reliable Laboratory Coal Technicians for its Energy Minerals division in Paget, Queensland. The casual positions focus on weekend work, with occasional weekday shifts, supporting coal sample preparation, testing and analysis.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, test and analyse coal and related samples accurately and on schedule.
- Follow correct procedures for sampling, recording, preparation, storage and reporting.
- Use basic CCLAS and computer systems to book samples and record analysis.
- Assist with preventative maintenance of preparation equipment and support routine shipping and exploration project sampling.
Required profile
- Flexible availability for shift work, especially Saturdays and Sundays, with occasional weekday coverage.
- Reliability, safety focus and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in a mineral laboratory, industrial or hands‑on environment is highly regarded.
Required skills
- Good computer skills, including Excel.
- Experience with CCLAS or similar laboratory information systems (advantageous).
