Coal Technician – Casual (Paget)

About the role

Join SGS Australia’s Energy Minerals Division as a Coal Technician on a casual basis in Paget, QLD. You will prepare and analyse coal samples to international standards, ensuring accurate and timely results for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Follow correct procedures for sampling, recording, preparation, analysis, storage, and reporting.
• Maintain accuracy, precision and traceability of samples and complete tasks within required timeframes.
• Assist with preventative maintenance of preparation equipment and uphold a safety‑aware environment.
• Use basic CCLAS for sample booking and analysis, and communicate effectively across shifts.
• Plan shift workflow, coordinate sample pick‑ups, and perform routine and project sampling, preparation and analysis.

Required profile

• Experience in coal sampling, preparation and testing preferred but not essential.
• Good computer skills with Excel proficiency and familiarity with data‑management programs valued.
• Ability to work rotating 5‑day rosters including weekend shifts.
• Team‑oriented attitude with capability to meet tight deadlines.
