Laboratory Assistant – Commodities

About the role

Bureau Veritas is a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, operating state‑of‑the‑art laboratories across the Pacific. The Commodities Laboratory Assistant will support mineral and geo‑analytical testing, ensuring high‑quality results for a range of commodities.

Key responsibilities

• Weigh, prepare and process laboratory samples.
• Run samples through various analytical methods.
• Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory instruments.
• Maintain good laboratory housekeeping and adhere to SOPs.
• Conduct safety walks, inspections and audits.
• Meet quality, turnaround time and KPI targets.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a geo‑analytical or minerals laboratory.
• At least one year as a Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
• Familiarity with inorganic chemistry laboratory techniques.
• Strong verbal and numerical reasoning skills.
• Methodical, well‑organized approach and team‑oriented mindset.

Required skills

• Operation of ICP‑MS equipment.
• Operation of ICP‑OES equipment.
• Inorganic chemistry laboratory techniques.
• Basic QA/QC procedures in a laboratory setting.
