Journalist - Automotive Content

About the role

Carsales is hiring a Journalist for its Content team, which produces reviews, comparisons and news that help Australians decide on cars, motorbikes, trucks, caravans and boats. The team works alongside the Senior Journalist and Managing Editor to build editorial output across the website, YouTube and social platforms, with a focus on editorial credibility and visual storytelling. The role is full-time and based in Melbourne, with hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Research, write and produce editorial content including reviews, comparisons, features and news to a consistently high standard
• Turn emerging trends and industry developments into new content ideas and story angles
• Present on-camera video content such as reviews and explainers
• Represent the editorial team at media events, launches and industry functions, building relationships with industry contacts
• Contribute to editorial planning, content calendar development and cross-team collaboration with Production and Audience Development

Required profile

• Familiarity with automotive content, through journalism, enthusiast writing or industry experience
• Proven ability to write to deadline across multiple formats, from breaking news to features and reviews
• Openness to developing on-camera presentation skills, even without prior experience
• Comfortable representing the brand at external events and building industry relationships
• Collaborative approach to working with senior editorial, production and audience teams
• Full-time Australian working rights and a clean National Police Record check
