Senior Manager Media Relations

About the role

The Senior Manager Media Relations will develop and deliver ANZ’s media relations strategy, protecting and enhancing the bank’s reputation and communicating its strategy through Australian and international media.

Key responsibilities

• Lead ANZ’s media unit and manage a proactive media engagement strategy aligned with corporate and financial communications.
• Maintain relationships with key business reporters and act as a senior spokesperson for the bank.
• Collaborate with senior executives to deliver the Group’s media relations strategy and manage complex media issues.
• Oversee key financial announcements, including results and the annual general meeting.
• Lead communications responses to incidents and crises.

Required profile

• Proven senior media relations experience in a large listed company, regulated sector, or government.
• Strong understanding of the Australian media landscape across print, online, radio, and television.
• Track record of building impactful relationships with Australian business and financial reporters.
• Strategic thinker with business acumen, problem‑solving ability and sound judgement under pressure.
• Experience managing issue and crisis communications, including speech writing.

Required skills

• Media relations and public relations expertise.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for multiple external channels.
• Ability to develop and deliver media strategies and manage stakeholder communications.
