IT Support Trainee

About the role

Join the IT team at Macpherson Kelley for a hands‑on, part‑time trainee position. This on‑site role in Sydney offers a practical introduction to IT support for students studying IT or a related field.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to helpdesk tickets, providing first‑line support and escalating complex issues.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems.
• Set up new user accounts, reset passwords, and configure laptops, mobile devices and peripherals.
• Assist with routine maintenance, software updates and documentation of solutions.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an IT or related qualification.
• Strong interest in learning IT support processes.
• Excellent communication and a customer‑first attitude.
• Organised, team‑oriented and eager to develop technical skills.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of PC operating systems.
• Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts.
• Hardware troubleshooting abilities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams (preferred).
