Investment Banking Associate – M&A (Sydney/Melbourne)

About the role

Morgan Stanley is seeking high‑performing Investment Banking Associates based in Sydney or Melbourne to join its M&A practice. You will work on complex, high‑profile transactions across Natural Resources, Technology Media & Telco, and General Industrials, partnering with senior bankers and corporate clients.

Key responsibilities

• Execute a broad range of M&A and strategic advisory transactions across Australia and the Asia‑Pacific region.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models and valuation analyses.
• Prepare client presentations, pitch materials, and transaction documentation.
• Manage day‑to‑day execution workstreams in collaboration with clients, lawyers, accountants and other advisers.
• Review and oversee analysts’ work, providing guidance on modelling and analytical assignments.
• Support senior bankers in business development and client relationship management.

Required profile

• 3‑6 years of relevant investment banking experience, preferably in M&A, Natural Resources or a coverage group with substantial transaction exposure.
• Demonstrated experience executing complex M&A, strategic advisory or capital markets transactions.
• Strong understanding of accounting, corporate finance and financial statement analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
