Intermediate Architect - Brisbane

About the role

Hatch is seeking an intermediate architect to join its growing Brisbane-based team. The work supports large engineering projects through the design and documentation of large, complex, industrial buildings such as administration and staff facilities, warehouses, laboratories and manufacturing buildings, as well as urban development, new communities, urban renewal and place-making. The team works alongside senior and graduate architects on significant global projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the design of buildings (primary) and urban projects (secondary) under the direction of the senior designer, producing drawings and reports covering conceptual, schematic and detailed design.
• Develop room data, specifications and design criteria.
• Coordinate design inputs from other discipline leads, project managers and stakeholders.
• Distribute documentation through prescribed quality systems and understand project controls, timekeeping and budget tracking.
• Produce documentation using Autodesk Revit, ACC and Navisworks.
• Oversee junior staff, take responsibility for their work and mentor them.

Required profile

• Master of Architecture from an AACA-accredited program; recognition of equivalence for international degrees considered.
• 5+ years of relevant experience after graduating.
• Good understanding of Australian Standards and NCC requirements, and of international standards and design guidelines.
• Experience working under a licensed architect and delivering quality documentation for large-scale projects (commercial, multi-residential, institutional, industrial).
• Experience coordinating allied technical disciplines and developing return briefs, reports, room data, specifications and design criteria.

Required skills

• Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud and Navisworks.
• Photoshop and InDesign, and SketchUp and/or Rhino.
• Document control, document review, client release and quality systems.
• Bentley Open Buildings Design and ProjectWise is an advantage but not essential.
