Identity & Access Management Engineer

About the role

An Identity & Access Management Engineer is sought for a client's growing security and infrastructure team in Melbourne. The role ensures secure, seamless and scalable identity management across cloud and hybrid environments, protecting users, data and systems while enabling frictionless access. It is advertised as a contract position.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain IAM solutions across cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
• Configure and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) and Conditional Access policies in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).
• Support user lifecycle management, including onboarding, offboarding and role-based access.
• Administer Privileged Identity Management (PIM) and run access reviews.
• Troubleshoot IAM issues and support identity-related escalations.
• Implement and manage SCIM and Just-In-Time (JIT) provisioning.
• Develop and enforce security standards aligned with Zero Trust principles.
• Work with IT, security and business teams to align identity services with organisational needs.

Required profile

• Strong practical experience in cloud identity management (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD).
• Hands-on experience with SSO setup, Conditional Access, PIM, access reviews and troubleshooting.
• Experience with hybrid identity management (on-premises Active Directory integrated with Entra ID).
• Knowledge of Zero Trust frameworks and awareness of passwordless authentication.

Required skills

• User lifecycle management processes.
• SCIM and JIT provisioning.
• Nice to have: other IAM tools such as Okta, Ping or SailPoint; scripting with PowerShell or Python; security certifications such as Microsoft Identity & Access Administrator, CISSP or equivalent.
