Human Resources Specialist (Sydney)

About the role

Jones Day is looking for an HR Specialist to support its Australian offices, primarily based in Sydney. The role offers the chance to work within a leading global law firm and collaborate with local management on day‑to‑day HR operations and broader projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee implementation of firm policies to ensure consistency, efficiency and compliance.
• Provide counsel and guidance to leadership on local HR laws and regulations.
• Handle day‑to‑day HR operational duties in the Sydney office.
• Support national and state‑based HR projects, including travel to Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane as needed.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of experience in a senior advisory HR position.
• Experience in a law firm or a leading professional services firm (e.g., accounting) is preferred.
• Knowledge of HR functions, practices and policies.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet competing deadlines and provide exceptional service.
• Willingness to travel between Australian offices.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to quickly navigate new HR systems.
