HSES Manager

About the role

The HSES Manager will lead, coach and develop health, safety, environment and sustainability values across Brenntag’s Melbourne office and manufacturing sites. This senior position requires strong leadership, the ability to influence managers and frontline staff, and a proven track record of building proactive safety cultures.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day HSES activities for all office locations and manufacturing sites, aligning initiatives with strategic goals.
• Develop and implement safety, health and environment platforms, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and local regulations.
• Drive process improvements, cross‑functional engagement and customer‑focused safety culture.
• Lead risk assessments, manage Management of Change (MOC) activities and maintain up‑to‑date legal and regulatory knowledge.

Required profile

• Minimum 10+ years of HSE leadership experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing or distribution.
• Highly organized with strong planning, prioritisation and project‑management skills.
• Experience developing HSES KPIs, dashboards and senior‑level management reports.
• Willingness to travel within Australia and New Zealand as needed.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and data‑analysis/reporting tools.
• Hands‑on experience with HSES management systems, incident reporting and audit platforms.
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and chemical process safety principles.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
