HSE Manager – Large Format Industrial Packaging

About the role

The HSE Manager will lead the implementation of Pact Group’s Health, Safety and Environment strategy across the Large Format Industrial Packaging (LFIP) sites, reporting to the General Manager – LFIP. This senior role partners with senior leaders, site managers and HSE teams to embed a proactive safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute the HSE strategy for the LFIP segment.
• Drive a proactive safety culture through leadership coaching and engagement.
• Identify, assess and manage operational risks, focusing on machinery safety, LOTO, traffic management, chemicals and working at heights.
• Ensure compliance with WHS and environmental legislation via audits and inspections.
• Act as the primary HSE interface with regulators such as WorkSafe and EPA.
• Lead investigation of high‑risk and notifiable incidents.
• Develop and improve HSE systems, procedures and training programs.
• Provide hands‑on coaching and capability building to site leaders and HSE teams.
• Deliver clear HSE reporting to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of Australian WHS and environmental legislation.
• Proven senior HSE leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong leadership, coaching and change‑management capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Professional membership (e.g., AIHS) is advantageous.
