HSE Advisor - Civil Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Leed, an employee-owned civil contractor with offices and workshops in Adelaide, Bendigo, Cooma and Melbourne, is looking for an HSE Advisor in Adelaide. The role supports frontline operations across active construction projects while assisting the HSE Manager in implementing and improving health, safety and environmental systems. It is a site-based position focused on visible safety leadership in the field, working with supervisors, leading hands, subcontractors and construction crews.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical health, safety and environmental advice and support to project teams
• Promote compliance with legislation, client requirements and company policies, systems and procedures
• Conduct site inspections, critical risk verifications and workplace observations
• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining project HSE plans, systems and documentation
• Take part in client meetings and project coordination as required
• Support incident investigations, including root cause identification, corrective actions and close-out monitoring
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce engagement initiatives
• Monitor environmental controls and compliance with project environmental requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement and a strong safety culture

Required profile

• Previous experience as an HSE advisor in civil construction, infrastructure, utilities or related industries
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) and a First Aid Certificate
• Experience conducting inspections, investigations and workforce safety engagement
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, able to influence people at all levels
• Proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach to risk management
• Commitment to Leed's values and ability to promote positive safety behaviour

A Certificate IV in Environmental Management is highly regarded. Candidates must complete a pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol screening. Leed is an equal opportunity employer.
