Hospitalist (Victoria, BC)

About the role

The South Island Hospitalist group, in partnership with Island Health, seeks experienced hospitalists to join a dynamic acute‑care team serving Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals. This full‑time, onsite position offers a high degree of clinical autonomy while being supported by specialist colleagues and an academic environment affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24‑hour Medical‑Responsibility‑Program (MRP) service across two major hospitals.
• Manage a diverse adult patient population (ages 17‑100+) including addictions, palliative care, geriatrics, and co‑manage surgical and rehabilitation cases.
• Participate in undergraduate and resident teaching, weekly CME rounds, and mentorship activities.
• Contribute to innovative hospitalist‑run programs such as Inpatient MAID, Hospital at Home, and the Rapid Assessment and Discharge short‑stay unit.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Strong interest in acute care and collaborative team environments.
• Willingness to engage in a tailored mentorship program and optional refresher program for physicians returning after a break.
