Hospitalist – Acute Care Physician in Victoria, BC

About the role

The South Island Hospitalist group, in partnership with Island Health, seeks experienced hospitalists to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team in Victoria, British Columbia. You will deliver 24‑hour Medical Review and Planning (MRP) services across two major hospitals, caring for a diverse adult population ranging from young adults to seniors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide acute inpatient care as part of the 24‑hour MRP service at Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals.
• Manage a broad spectrum of medical conditions, including addictions, palliative care, geriatrics, and co‑management of surgical and rehabilitation patients.
• Participate in undergraduate and resident teaching affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
• Contribute to specialty programs such as Inpatient MAID, Hospital‑at‑Home, and the Rapid Assessment and Discharge short‑stay unit.
• Engage in weekly CME rounds and continuous professional development opportunities.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Strong interest in acute care medicine and collaborative team environments.
• Willingness to mentor junior staff and participate in teaching activities.
• Eligibility to practice medicine in British Columbia.

• Clinical assessment and management of acute medical patients.
• Ability to work autonomously while integrating specialist input.
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
