Home Care Assistant

About the role

Respect, Regional Australia's largest aged care provider, is looking for a reliable and compassionate Home Care Assistant to provide person-centred support to clients in their own homes. This is a full-time position based in Lindisfarne South, Tasmania, with availability Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Travel within a 30-minute radius of Lindisfarne is required.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients to maintain wellbeing and independence according to their care plans, goals and service plans.
• Provide direct personal care such as bathing, hygiene, dressing, grooming, mobility support, lifting, meal preparation and fitting of aids.
• Undertake domestic assistance including cleaning, laundry, food preparation and shopping.
• Offer social support and transport to appointments and community activities.
• Monitor client health and wellbeing, including medication where trained and competent, and report changes to the Home Care Manager.
• Maintain professional, respectful relationships with clients and accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, Disability or a related qualification, and a current National Police Certificate (or ability to obtain one).
• First Aid certificate within 3 years, valid driver's licence and access to a registered, insured vehicle.
• Relevant community care experience such as home care, personal care or disability support.
• Physically able to perform the role safely and comply with mandatory vaccinations, including COVID-19 (flu ideally).
