Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic

About the role

MPK Kinetic is looking for a qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to help build its Well Intervention Services new maintenance team. The role is based in Roma, Queensland, and involves scheduled maintenance, servicing and general mechanical repair of vehicles and equipment, with very little heavy overhaul.

Key responsibilities

• Record and report all work in the asset management system, review it to schedule repairs and book equipment with third-party vendors when needed, including vehicle loading cranes.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Servicing of light vehicles, light trucks and heavy vehicles under the NHVAS scheme, with familiarity of NHVAS requirements and responsibilities.
• Perform hydraulic work on wireline units, cranes and forklifts, and general mechanical repair of seals and bearings, drive lines, suspension, brakes, pneumatics and electrics, plus basic intermediate welding and grinding.
• No heavy overhauls such as clutch, gearbox, differential, engine or swaps; mobilise in the field to fix vehicle or equipment issues for MPK crews, including supporting wireline operations.
• Work with the inventory manager to optimise store inventory and usage, keep the service vehicle clean and maintain inventory.
• Carry out face-to-face handovers with notes with the opposite shift, keep the workplace tidy and show HSE awareness.

Required profile

• Relevant trade certificate.
• Minimum 1-2 years' experience in the industry.
• Driving licence and manual car licence; working rights for Australia.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, good communication skills; computer skills are an advantage.

• CPR (HLTAID001) and First Aid (HLTAID002 and HLTAID003)
• Forklift licence
