Heavy Duty Mechanic (HD Mechanic)

About the role

UON, an integrated energy company in Western Australia, is looking for an HD Mechanic for its Energy division. The role is mainly based in the yard, with occasional ad hoc travel to site, where an additional site uplift hourly rate applies.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake planned and ad hoc inspections of the condition of UON products
• Install and commission UON products in the workshop/yard and at WA mine sites
• Provide predictive and reactive service, maintenance and repair of UON and client equipment
• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and component change-outs on surface mining equipment
• Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and power generation equipment, and advise professionally
• Mechanically modify equipment to meet customer specifications and reassemble diesel engines after repair
• Repair and rebuild UON assets to company specifications

Required profile

• Seasoned HD Mechanic with experience maintaining and testing power generation, dewatering and pump equipment, and overhauling and repairing it; Cummins experience preferred
• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
• At least 3 years' experience servicing mobile equipment and driving to field service on mine sites
• At least 3 years' experience in servicing and diagnostics in heavy vehicles, mining, heavy construction, materials handling or similar heavy industry
• At least 3 years' experience in heavy diesel engine diagnosis, rebuild and repair
• At least 3 years' experience diagnosing and fixing fieldbus circuits in mobile and stationary plant
• WA HR class driver's licence
